The clipboard dropped to the ground, echoing loudly throughout the clinic. A few heads in the lobby turned towards the noise, startled as it broke the almost utter silence. A black-haired boy behind the desk quickly knelt to the ground, scrambling to pick up stray papers. I've been here too long today; I'm getting sloppy, he thought to himself. The tag clipped to the pocket of his sterile white lab coat read "Quentin Oleski, P.A." I just hope I do not make a mistake on something important.
A cheery female sitting at the desk turned around, "Are you alright?"
"Huh?" The boy looked, obviously in his own world.
"Are you alright, Quinn?" She asked again, assuming he had merely fallen.
"Oh." Quinn pushed himself up as he clipped the papers into the clipboard. "Yeah, of course. I'm just tired. I dropped this." A faint smile appeared on his lips. After attending classes at the nearby university, then working, saying he was tired was an understatement. He was completely exhausted. Of course, he needed both money and experience, not to mention he derived some pleasure from helping Pokemon as an assistant at the hotel's infirmary. He chuckled ever-so-faintly and placed the clipboard on the counter. "I don't have too much longer left. I think I will make it. But right now, I have to get back to the examination room. The doctor is probably wondering where I am!"
Within a few minutes, he came back out, a bandaged Piplup by his side. "Right this way, please." He smiled to the tiny Pokemon, pointing into the waiting room. A young woman quickly stood up, rushing to them. She knelt down and hugged the Piplup. "He had a minor concussion after the fall. He'll need to take it easy a few more days. But he should be fine." The woman nodded graciously before exitting the clinic. Quinn sank into a chair next to the female at the front desk.

Ava carried the sleeping Vulpix in through the wide doors, the pokemon cradled securely in her arms. She was sure Mint would be just fine, but she always had to check. She had been training with him before she had gone to sleep, but she had no idea the young pokemon was intending on continuing his training after she had gone to bed. She saw a dark haired male hand a bandaged Piplup over to a relieved looking young woman before sinking into the chair by the main desk and so that was where she headed, her hand scratching lightly under the pokemon's chin.
"Uhm can I please get some help?" She asked quietly gesturing to the Vulpix in her arms. "I'm sure it's not too serious but he insisted on training after I had gone to bed and I just found him like this. I can't seem to wake him." She muttered, holding up the pokemon for the boy and the woman to see. "I thought you might be able to help." Her voice was low, the onset of panic clear in its tone. She was not panicking just yet, but she sure would if Mint stayed like this much longer.

The boy quickly looked up when the young woman approached the counter. An unconscious Vulpix? The boy pushed himself out of the chair and moved around the counter to get a closer look. "He's still breathing; that's a good sign..." Quinn mumbled almost inaudibly. He carefully removed the Pokemon from the girl's arms, gently placing Vulpix in his own. "Exactly how long has he been like this? Aside from his own training, has he been in any recent battles? Has he experienced any recent trauma that you are aware of, and is this the first time this inexplicable unconsciousness has occurred?" The questions were numerous, and Quinn didn't even stop to breathe between them.
He shook his head quickly. "Sorry for the slew of questions; I just want to be sure we can do everything for him. Please, have a seat out here. I will bring him back to the examining room and have the doctor take a closer look." Hurriedly, he turned around and rushed through the sterile metal doors behind the desk and disappeared from site.
In about twenty minutes, Quinn stepped through the metal doors once more; this time, a smile of relief was spread lightly across his face. "The doctor is concluding a more thorough examination now. I think you will, however, be glad to know your Vulpix is responding to touch and sound. He even opened his eyes once." Stepping around the counter, he continued, "Honestly, it seems he is just exhausted. The doctor has not ruled out a head injury, though. If you want, you can come back with me. Perhaps your voice can pull him out of it now."

Ava leaned in closer to the boy as he took her Vulpix, muttering something she did not quite understand before attacking her ears with an onslaught of questions which the young girl attempted to answer.
"Err twenty minutes, not long. No, I don't battle- err no and yes..." Ava squeaked before the male apologised and rushed Mint through a pair of double doors, offering her a seat in the lobby before disappearing. Ava collapsed onto one of the chairs, her head falling into her hands. How could she have done this to Mint? How could she have let him work himself into such a state?
After about twenty minutes of her panic, the boy emerged, a smile on his face as he explained the situation to the young coordinator. Ava smiled back at the boy and nodded. "I'd love to see him thank you!" She whispered, waiting for him to lead the way.

Quinn led the girl as they meandered through several corridors. They arrived at a closed door, which Quinn slowly pushed open. As they entered, an older gentleman turned to the two of them. "Come in..." He stepped aside, revealing the unconscious Vulpix on a bland white bed. Quinn allowed the door to swing shut behind them, then stepped off to the side as well.
"What's his status, Doctor?" He asked, hoping for the best.
With little hesitation, the older man cleared his throat. "Actually, while you were out, he woke up. He fell asleep soon after... but the good news is, now he is merely asleep."
Quinn breathed a sigh of relief. "Excellent," A smile appeared as he turned to Ava. "You shouldn't be worried now."
The doctor cleared his throat, "If this happens again, bring him in immediately. From what we can tell, however, everything is normal. He just needed a good rest. With how panicky Quinn was, I thought this was his Vulpix!" With a chuckle, the doctor stepped out of the room, likely to tend to other patients.
Quinn looked up to the girl again. "That's a relief. I'm glad that he is alright." The boy smiled, carefully petting the Vulpix as it slept silently on the bed.
