Ava sighed and lay back on the grass, feeling the hot midday sun caress her light skin. She could hear Mint squealing in delight as he ran around the Jungle Gym but she paid him little to no mind. Today was the day for fun and relaxation, not for worries and troubles.
After a few moments of silence Ava began to sit up to check on her Vulpix only for four small paws to crash down on her chest, forcing her onto her back once more as she let out a breathy "oof". Mint let out another excited cry and jumped off her chest to let her roll onto her side. She reached out with her hand and the pokemon rubbed up against her palm before she started playfully poking at his legs, making him shift from side to side to avoid her touch. Mint growled playfully and swatted at her hands with his own paws, making small growling noises in the back of his throat. She pushed him away gently and smiled before giving the command.
"Fire Spin, Mint. Let the flame cloak your body okay?" She said softly and watched as the flames circled her pokemon, the light dancing on his coat, the sun sparkling on the surface. He looked absolutely beautiful and Ava was still staring in awe long after the flames went out. She was sure to win her next contest, that was for sure! She just needed to think of a new move to pull off a beautiful combo with the one move Vulpix knew so far.

The gray haired, young lady woke up feeling lazier than she usually did today. Alough this was an acceptable life style among most teenages now days, it was something that she wouldn't stand for. She valued her fitness as well as her relationship with her pokemon, so she knew it was important to get out and do something each and every day. Still, it was like a chore to even roll her dead weight body out of bed. So, she decided to try something out an idea that she had gotten from a magazine article she once read in a salon while waiting to get her nails manicured. She told Puffles, her lovely and pink flaaffy, to get her lightly shaded pink and white shoes. She lifted over the side of er bed and grabbed them from her flaaffy with the tips of her fingers. Puffles took about two seconds before laying back down, not caring what her owner was up to. Flaaffy was used to her shenanigans. Julie read somewhere that it was a way to sub-consciously signal your brain that it was time to wake up and start your day off. She pulled her knees up to her chin, and bent her body slightly to reach her arms down far enough to slip on her shoes.
Julie's plan worked alright, for she managed to scoot her body to the edge of the bed, sit up, and then turn sitting to standing up. It wasn't too hard to do after that, considering that her shoes made her feel like she was walking on clouds. Not only were they comfortable, but they were also super adorable. She considered it a two in one. Julie walked over to her window and looked outside. What was she going to do today? She looked over at the Pokemon park. A lot of pokemon seemed to be up this morning and having a ton of fun. That sounded like a good plan, maybe Puffles would want to play there today.
She dragged her tired body to her dressed and threw on a pink sun dress, slipping her pajama bottoms off over her pink flats before moving to the mirror where she brushed out her hair. Julie then took a bright pink hair tie out of her hair junk box and put her hair up on the side of her head before added her usual assortments of berets to the other side of her hair. She brushed on a little bit of make up, and then went back into the main part of her room.
"Are you ready, Puffles? We're going to go to the Pokemon playground today!" Julie told her flaaffy with a smile on her face.
Puffles immediately jumped off her fluffy pink pokemon bed that sat next to Julie's. She loved to play and go places with Julie. She was used to being up and active, as Julie never let her lay around too long. Plus, it had been a while since she got to hang out with the other pokemon at the playground.
"Flaaf!" she replied, already on her way to the door.
Julie couldn't help but smile even larger. Puffles was her best friend, and she got joy out of seeing her excited about things. She wondered if Seth, her brother, ever took her out to play when he owned her. He was a trainer who happened to be a little more harsh on his Pokemon than some although he was sweet at heart.
When Julie and Puffles approached the park, they noticed a girl and her vulpix right away due to the vulpix's actions. She was letting flames dance around her body, and it looked downright amazing. When close enough, Julie approached the girl.
"That's beautiful! Your vulpix is really talented," she complimented with a joyful smile on her face.
It only took Puffles two seconds before she got distracted and ran off to play on the playground in the sand box. Although she didn't like being dirty, she couldn't keep herself away from any sandboxes she saw. On top of have a passion for fashion, Flaaffy also had a passion for sand. Any time she saw sand, she had to rush right over and start digging. There was something about digging holes and building sand castles that made the pokemon happy.

Completely taken by the beautiful performance by her pokemon, Ava did not notice the grey haired girl approaching until she spoke to her. The dark haired head snapped up just in time to watch an adorable Flaaffy toddle off towards the sandbox and to find the girl standing over her, praising Mint. Ava sat, laughing as Mint ran off to join the other pokemon on the playground with an excited call and turned to the girl. "Yeah. He sure is talented. I can't wait to teach him some new complimentary moves though. I don't see that move alone getting us through the next contest." Ava sighed, standing to brush off her backside lightly. She scratched the back of her neck, watching the Flaaffy digging enthusiastically and she gestured toward the pokemon. "Is that your pokemon?" She asked, watching Mint carefully as he ran towards her again, stopping by her feet. "I've always wanted a Flaaffy. They'd be amazing to use in contests." She said wistfully. She had been working through the contests for almost six months now with only Mint by her side, and she thought it may be time to look at getting herself a new pokemon, but which one she would pick would be a difficult choice.
Ava bent down to Mint and stroked the top of his head, her head tilted upwards to look at the girl. "So what is it you do? I'm a co-ordinator myself. I don't think I'd have the heart to make Mint here battle properly. I couldn't bear to see him get hurt." The Vulpix mewled appreciatively as she stroked a finger down his back.

"Contests?"
Julie's ears perked up at the mentioning of a contest. She loved meeting other coordinators who may not be as new to the scene as she was. Something about talking to other coordinators just made her day. At contests in the hotel, Julie was always the one to go around and introduce herself to each and every person that entered. To her, connections were important, and networking was fun. It was all apart of the scene and a part of becoming a great, experienced coordinator. Julie aspired to know everything there was to know.
"Yes, that's my little Puffles!" Julie responded with a giggle. "She does do wonderful in contests, but we both have a lot to learn. We're just started out, but so far, it hasn't been too hard since Flaaffy has so much natural beauty."
She would go on and on about her flaaffy if she wasn't trying to keep her annoyance under control. Flaaffy was her pride and joy, and she wanted the world to know how amazing and wonderful she was. After all, so much talent in a wooly package had to be shared with the world. That was the way she saw it.
"As you've probably gathered, I'm also a coordinator! I wouldn't be able to let Flaaffy battle either. I'd be one of those crazy people jumping into the middle of the fights to tackle their pokemon out," Julie joked with the girl, although what she spoke was true. "I've just always been into fashion and style, and my brother just introduced me to this whole thing about three months ago."
Her brother giving her the starting book on coordination was probably the best thing that had ever happened to her. After all, what could be more fun?

Ava giggled along, the name catching her interest. It suited the pokemon quite perfectly, what with the "puffles" of wool on its body. "Ahh what a beautiful name! We're only just starting out really too. We've competed in small contests back home but nothing big yet... We're trying to get really good first." She shrugged as Mint lay himself across her feet, his small paws stretched out in front of him. "I suppose I would do the same. Or simply scoop this lump of fur up and run for it!" Ava laughed lightly, causing her pokemon to look up at her with sleepy eyes before returning to his nap.
Ava scratched her chin thoughtfully as she tried to think of the exact date she had entered that first contest with Mint. She remembered the contest itself, but certainly not the date. "I think we've been doing this for... Maybe something like five or six months?" She asked Mint who merely yawned, not even sparing her a glance this time. "Can I see some of err.... Puffles' moves please? I wonder what Flaaffy are capable of! It might motivate me to catch one myself at last." She laughed, adjusting the white jacket on her shoulders, careful not to jostle her feet and the pokemon on them.

"I thought so," Julie replied with a smile when she complimented Puffles name. "It's silly, cute, and describes her."
It actually relieved the gray haired young woman to know that she too was just beginning to forum her identify as a Pokemon coordinator. She was beginning to feel like she was the only newbie in this entire hotel. Everyone Julie had talked to had been at this for years already. Some even looked at her as though she was a joke. It made her uncomfortable, considering she was actually pretty decent at this for someone who was just starting out.
"Sure, she can show you this one trick we've been working on," Julie confirmed before calling her flaaffy back to her.
Puffles came running in a heart beat. She always came the second Julie called, she was extremely loyal that way. She hated disappointing.
"Puffles, show her your new move!"
Flaaffy nodded and then let bolts of electric come out of her body, her electric shock move. She began to dance around, letting the electric bolts swarm around her body. She made images with her hands, turning electric surges into heart shapes.

Ava smiled as the pink Pokemon came running the second the trainer called it's name. It really was an incredibly cute Pokemon, and in all truth Ava felt a small bubble of jealousy form in her chest, which only increased in size as bolts of glowing electricity danced and sparked around the Flaaffy as it danced and twirled, it's woolen features illuminated by the move. But then, to the amazement of the young coordinator the Pokemon used it's hands to create images with the electricity around it, forming small heart shapes that flickered and popped, leaving Ava breathless as she stared.
After a while she pulled her eyes off the Flaaffy named Puffles to look down at her own Vulpix, feeling as if she had let the poor thing down by not being as good as the woman before her. She bent and picked up the Pokemon earning a small whine from him as she disturbed his sleep. "How does she manipulate the move like that?" Ava asked quietly, her fingers scratching at the top of Mint's head. "I wish Mint could do such a good job." She whispered, staring down at her Vulpix. Ava felt as if she was the worst coordinator around, and wondered if Mint was angry with her for not being good enough. Small tears welled in the corners of her eyes but she forced them back, taking a large breath to keep them at bay. "I'm gonna do much better." Her voice came out much stronger, but she was still unsure, how could she ever hope to become a top coordinator if she was so lame already?
