Appearance: Valerie doesn't stand out much as far as looks go. She's quite short in stature, and somewhat chubby. Val sports short, light green hair and eyes of similar colouring. Her eyes are rather round and rest above a button nose and a small mouth. She usually takes to wearing long sleeved clothing, as she grew up in a rather hot climate and is inclined to think the weather at the hotel somewhat chilly. Her skin is somewhat pale despite this, due to staying inside a lot as a child. She also wears prescription glasses to treat her far-sightedness.
Personality: Shy: Due to growing up without much social interaction, it can be somewhat difficult for her to talk to people. Excusing Pokemon battles, she tends to avoid unnecessary chit chat with strangers.
Skeptical: She's not one to trust everything that is said to her, and will always cross check any information she gets from anyone.
Competitive: Despite her naturally withdrawn nature, Valerie hates losing. However, she often freezes up during battles when a Pokemon faints, so she rarely actually wins.
Excitable: Valerie can actually become quite passionate over exciting news, especially around those she knows well.
Hesitant: Slow to come to decisions, Val is often worried to jump head-first into something without spending time dwelling on the possible outcomes.

History: Val grew up in Lavaridge Town without many friends. Seeing as there weren't very many children to play with growing up apart from the tourists coming through to see the hot springs, she never really got a chance to learn how to interact with others. Instead, she stayed inside and studied. She began her journey at the age of ten, riding around on Mel to get about.
She soon came across Blue after surfing on her way to Rustburo Town. After resting in a cave, Val warmed up to the bird pokemon and Blue allowed her to place her in a Pokeball. They then arrived in Rustboro Town to challenge Roxanne, but Blue was far too underleveled. The Swablu was rushed to the Pokemon centre where she remained in their care for a week. Ever since then, Valerie is terrified by the thought of losing one of her companions or badly injuring them due to her carelessness. For that reason, she placed her journey on hold and came to the Pokemon Hotel in order to establish more confidence and to become stronger as a person.

The shuffling of feet echoed through the otherwise quiet room, Valerie's green eyes fixated on her feet. Her now red cheeks were stained with tear tracks, eyes watery and glasses foggy. It was her fault. What kind of idiot sends a Pokemon into a gym battle without training? Valerie's shoulders shook as the stress began to build up again, waves of guilt crashing down upon her. She was so out of it at this point she didn't even notice the presence before her until she felt her head grow heavier.
"Pii!" The young girl's eyes widened as she grinned, Blue snuggling into her beanie. The bird peered down at her, head cocked to the side in confusion. Valerie giggled, sniffling as she scratched under her friend's chin. Blue cooed at the attention, before readjusting her position on top of Valerie's head and sleeping. The green haired girl let out a shaky sigh, her own eyes beginning to droop close. They would leave in the morning. For now, they could just relax and rest.
